Hello to al!

I have some questions to the free, singleserver (FREE) edition of VirtualIron:

1) Does i need two servers (one for management and one for the virtualisation server (to boot with the virtualiron iso) or can this two things are on one server?
2) does VirtualIron work on suse10.2? (i have installed the management service without problems)
3) does there exist any special dokumentation for this free edition?

regards
Christoph

Hello! 1) Yes, you need two servers currently. 2) Virtual Iron officially supports SLES 9 at present. 3) The documentation you received in your email provides a description of all the functionality; the free edition has all the capabilities available in a single-server system. If you want features such as LiveMigrate, you will need to get a trial of the multi-server edition.

Hello,

Thanks for your verry fast answer!

I think for an Singleserver Edition its not nice that we need two servers :-) - it is planed for an future release that for the single server edition only needs one server?

Hello. I readed that you need two server for VI free edition. But if in future upgrade hardware:
1. Should I install once again VI trial multiserver if i want to add one server (2 CPU) more.
2. After trial expires, how much license socket should i pay?  2 ? or 4+2?

Suposed that first managed server has 4 CPU.

Thx,

regards Ales

The free edition supports up to one 4-socket (with dual core, this is 8 CPU) server that runs virtual servers -- this does not count the management server. If you want more servers, or CPUs, beyond this, you will need to purchase our multi-server edition.
