Hi,

Looking at the architecture of Virtual Iron, I found Virtual Iron built another layer on Xen hypervisor which is called Virtualization Services. The VI manul explain the purpose of this layer to performe many functions ordinarily provided by standard OS.

But I'm still not very clear about this, just two questions:
1. Is this layer built into Xen hypervisor or running on domain0?
2. Could VI people give more details to explain the use of this VI virtualization services?

Virtualization Services is what Virtual Iron calls Domain 0. We have more information about our architecture in our Technology whitepaper.

If Virtualization Services is equal to domain0, then I think the VI architecture  graph in the Virtual Iron manual is kind of misleading. The manual puts all those guest domains on the top of domain0 which makes the virtualization services look like additional layer on top of hypervisor. However this is not true in Xen as domain0 is in the parallel position with other guest domains in Xen.

Virtualization services is really the hypervisor and Domain 0. That is why the guests are drawn on top. Please see page 7 of the Technology White paper for more info.
