Virtual Iron’s solutions take full advantage of new Intel® VT Virtualization Technology to deliver a cost-effective alternative to VMware’s proprietary virtualization offering for unmodified Linux and Windows operating systems. Enterprise organizations use Virtual Iron’s software to address a number of data center initiatives including:

  • Server Consolidation – increase hardware utilization while reducing capital expenditures
  • Rapid Provisioning – minimize operational expenditures High Availability - recover from failures, quickly, reliably and cost-effectively
  • Capacity Management – for Operational efficiency
  • Policy-Based Automation – reduce manual intervention, human errors and time and labor costs while automating data center operations using LiveMigrate™

The software provides support for unmodified 32- and 64-bit Linux and Windows operating systems and applications, as well as support for SMP and very large memory (96GB). It is purpose-built for production-class workloads and supports hundreds of physical servers and thousands of virtual servers. The software automates many time-intensive manual tasks such as provisioning new servers and moving capacity to handle dynamic workloads. It also monitors physical systems and automatically responds to availability issues. These capabilities enable users to streamline data center management while dramatically reducing capital and operating expenses.
