Virtual Iron to Showcase Advanced Virtualization and Management Platform at VMworld 2006

Company to Demonstrate Enterprise-Class Capabilities for Windows and Linux and Discuss Support for Forthcoming Intel Quad-Core Processor

Lowell, MA, November 3, 2006 –
Virtual Iron Software, (www.virtualiron.com), a provider of software solutions for creating and managing virtual infrastructure in the data center, will showcase its advanced virtualization and policy-based management platform at VMWorld 2006. The virtualization industry event is taking place November 7-9 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

At the show, Virtual Iron will demonstrate its enterprise-class virtualization and virtual infrastructure management platform for Windows and Linux. The software combines advanced virtualization and policy-based management capabilities with an open source hypervisor derived from the Xen project. Virtual Iron uses Microsoft's Virtual Hard Disk format to enable interoperability between Microsoft Virtual Server and Virtual Iron. The platform takes full advantage of new hardware-assisted virtualization offered by Intel and AMD to deliver a high performance alternative for unmodified Windows and Linux operating systems at a fraction of the cost.

In addition to its product demonstration, Virtual Iron will also discuss its support for Intel’s forthcoming Quad-Core processor. These new processors, which will be formally announced on November 14th, extend Virtual Iron’s price/performance advantage and further its users’ ability to efficiently handle large enterprise-class workloads such as databases, risk management, ERP and other applications that require large CPU capacity.

Virtual Iron will also be giving away two free tickets to Super Bowl XLI in Miami in collaboration with its partners Intel, PlateSpin and QLogic. Attendees can get details at any of the participating companies’ VMworld booths: Intel (#627), PlateSpin (#635), QLogic (#519) as well as Virtual Iron (#341).
