Virtual Iron is Featured Solution Provider at LinuxWorld 2006 San Francisco

Company Hosting Panel on the Next Generation Data Center with IBM, Intel and Microsoft; Version 3.0 Selected as Finalist for Virtualization Product Excellence Award

Virtual Iron Software (www.virtualiron.com), a provider of software solutions for creating and managing virtual infrastructure in the data center, announced that it will host an interactive panel titled “Virtualization and the Next Generation Data Center” at LinuxWorld 2006 in San Francisco this week. The panel will feature virtualization thought leaders from IBM, Intel, Microsoft and Virtual Iron and discuss the latest standards-based and open source technologies and how they are changing the economics of virtualization. The session will also look at the impact of new hardware-assisted virtualization technologies and how virtualization is being used to create more flexible infrastructure and deliver computing capacity on demand.

Virtual Iron also announced that its Xen-based virtualization platform, Version 3.0, has been named a finalist for the Linux Journal Product Excellence Awards being selected at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo. The company is competing in the Best Virtualization Solution category.

Version 3.0 combines Virtual Iron’s advanced virtualization and policy-based management capabilities with the open source Xen hypervisor. It is the first and only software solution to take full advantage of new hardware-assisted virtualization from Intel and AMD. The software provides support for unmodified 32- and 64 - bit Linux and Windows operating systems and applications, as well as support for SMP and very large memory (128GB). It is purpose-built for production-class workloads and supports hundreds of physical servers and thousands of virtual servers. The software automates many time-intensive manual tasks such as provisioning new servers and moving capacity to handle dynamic workloads. It also monitors physical systems and automatically responds to availability issues. The Linux Journal Product Excellence Awards distinguish product and service innovations by LinuxWorld exhibitors and are divided into 13 categories, including an overall “Best of Show” award. Judged by a group of respected industry experts, award winners will be announced during a ceremony on Wednesday, August 16.

Virtual Iron will also be exhibiting at the Linux World Expo with both AMD (Booth #916) and Intel (Booth #1102). The company will be presenting demos of Version 3.0, and making theater presentations at both locations.
