Virtual Iron Bolsters Management Team With Marketing Executive

Michael Grandinetti Joins Company as Chief Marketing Officer

Acton , MA , August 16, 2005 – Virtual Iron Software ( www.virtualiron.com ), a provider of virtual computing and dynamic infrastructure management solutions, today announced that Michael Grandinetti has joined the company as Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.   Grandinetti will be responsible for driving the company’s strategic product planning, product management, product marketing, corporate marketing, and market development efforts.

Prior to joining Virtual Iron, Grandinetti served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Yantra Corp., which was acquired by SBC in January 2005.   Before Yantra, Grandinetti spent a number of years as a senior executive at venture backed technology companies including Connected Corporation, Raptor Systems, and Viewlogic, where he was part of the management teams that executed successful IPOs and/or subsequent acquisitions.   Early in his career, Grandinetti worked at McKinsey as a strategic management consultant.

In addition to his corporate experience, Grandinetti holds a long-standing faculty appointment as a Senior Lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He also serves as a member of the Leadership Roundtable Advisory Board for the New England Business and Technology Association.

Grandinetti received his BS in Engineering, from Rutgers , where he was elected to the National Engineering Honor Society. He received his MBA from Yale, where he was named the Jess Morrow Johns Memorial Scholar and was the recipient of the Procter and Gamble Marketing Leadership Award and a Yale Teaching Fellowship.
