Technology Alliance Engineer

Location: Lowell, MA

Virtual Iron is seeking talented, aggressive and highly-motivated individuals to provide support to our Business Development team in recruiting and growing business with strategic partners. The right candidate will play a key role in capturing and supporting strategic partners (OEMs and technology alliances) by providing pre- and post- sales technical support to the Business Development team. A good understanding of the sales process in general, and partner work in particular, is required.

Duties will include:

  • Providing advanced technical support related to design validation, integration architecture, proof of concept testing, product demonstrations, and application testing/staging;
  • Creating technical designs for partners that meet their product requirements and help solve business or technology problems for the partners’ end-user customers;
  • Delivering technical and sales-oriented presentations to partners’ engineering, development, and product marketing staff and senior management;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with technical decision makers and influencers in your partner account base.


Qualifications:

  • Experienced pre-sales engineer with the ability to obtain virtualization knowledge and skills quickly;
  • Experience working with large enterprise software sales is mandatory;
  • Demonstrated ability to support technology partners;
  • Experience with:
    • Unix/Linux servers - Linux certification(s) a plus
    • SAN/NAS storage and switches (EMC, IBM, Brocade, McDATA)
    • SOA & Application servers (WebSphere, BEA WebLogic, JBoss)
    • Enterprise software (SAP, Peoplesoft, Tibco)
    • Relational databases (DB2, MySQL, Oracle);
    • Programming or scripting in Java, Python, Perl
    • Virtualization products
    • Data center management products
  • Technical acumen with ability to present and sell technology products in a business context;
  • Willingness and desire to travel extensively in support of sales activities and team success.
